Vyond Alternatives in 2026: Prices Checked, and Which One Suits YouTube Stories

A girl with long orange hair and a pink T-shirt stands on a railway platform holding a train ticket, with benches, a clock and a brick station behind her.
A character, a place and a reason to go. A still from Someday Isn't a Day, made with Drawn Films.

Short answer

Vyond costs $99 a month for Starter or $699 a year, and $199 a month or $1,199 a year for Professional; there’s no free plan, only a trial. Cheaper alternatives: Powtoon (free plan, paid from $15 a month billed yearly), Animaker (free plan, Basic about $15 a month), Steve AI, and for dialogue-led YouTube story films, Drawn Films ($29 a month, first film free). Prices checked 23 October 2026.

Most “Vyond alternatives” lists are written by the companies selling the alternatives, often AI avatar or screen-recording tools for company training, and many quote Vyond plans that no longer exist. This one checks every price on each tool’s own pricing page on the same day, says what each tool is good at, and answers the question most YouTube creators actually have: which one makes animated story videos people want to watch?

How much does Vyond cost in 2026?

Vyond has four plans for individuals and teams, and no free plan. Prices from Vyond’s pricing page, checked 23 October 2026:

Plan Monthly Yearly Credits a month Downloads a month Longest video
Starter $99 $699 (about $58 a month) 10,000 100 25 minutes
Professional $199 $1,199 (about $100 a month) 20,000 200 40 minutes
Enterprise Yearly only $1,649 per user Virtually unlimited Virtually unlimited 90 minutes
Agency Yearly only $1,999 per user 400,000 Virtually unlimited 90 minutes

Credits pay for Vyond’s AI features, such as AI voices, avatars and text to video. Google’s suggestions show people looking up Vyond’s prices in India, the UK and Australia too; the page showed us prices in US dollars.

Is Vyond free?

No. There’s a trial, not a free plan. According to Vyond’s help centre, trial users can make up to three videos, every one carries a watermark, and trial videos can’t be downloaded. In some regions Vyond also offers a 7-day plan trial for $10, which turns into a paid subscription unless you cancel. So the trial is for testing the editor, not for making a video you can post.

What is Vyond good at?

Vyond is a business animation tool, and a good one. Its strengths are workplace videos: training, explainers, onboarding and internal messages, with a large library of characters, props and office scenes. You build each scene in an editor, drag characters in, and pick their actions. Characters lip sync to dialogue you record or upload (Vyond Help), and Professional adds team tools, translation and Shutterstock assets.

The cost is time and money. You build the video scene by scene yourself, and at $699 a year for the cheapest plan, it’s priced for companies. That’s why so many people searching “vyond pricing” go on to search “vyond alternatives”.

What are the best Vyond alternatives?

Four tools cover most of what people want from Vyond for less. All prices checked on each tool’s own pricing page on 23 October 2026:

Tool Free plan Cheapest paid plan What you do Talking characters Best for
Vyond No (trial only) $99 a month, or $699 a year Build each scene in an editor Yes, from your audio Company training and explainers
Powtoon Yes: 720p, up to 3 min, watermark Lite, $15 a month billed yearly Build scenes from templates Character lip sync on Advanced ($125 a month, yearly) Presentations, marketing, classroom
Animaker Yes, with a watermark Basic, $15 a month (its own FAQ) Build scenes from templates Yes (editor) Cheap, all-purpose animated videos
Steve AI Its page title says “Free” Starter, ₹19,999 a year in India Type text, edit the AI’s video Animated characters, AI voices Quick text-to-video
Drawn Films Yes: first film, up to 1 min, watermark Creator, $29 a month or $278.40 a year Write a story, approve the script and storyboard Every line, by the character who says it Story films for YouTube

Animaker and Steve AI showed us prices in Indian rupees, because they show local prices; we’ve given those as we saw them, and the dollar figure only where the tool’s own page states one.

Powtoon: the closest like-for-like swap

Powtoon is the nearest thing to Vyond at a lower price, and it has a free plan. From Powtoon’s pricing page, billed yearly:

  • Free: 720p, videos up to 3 minutes, Powtoon watermark.
  • Lite, $15 a month: 1080p MP4 downloads, watermark removed on 5 exports a month, videos up to 10 minutes, 300 AI credits a year.
  • Professional, $40 a month (shown as 43% off $70): unlimited premium exports, all templates, camera moves, up to 20 minutes.
  • Advanced, $125 a month: full character customisation, character lip sync, your own fonts, up to 30 minutes.

All paid plans include commercial rights. The catch for storytellers is the last line: if your characters talk, lip sync is on the most expensive plan.

Animaker: the cheapest editor with a free plan

Animaker is a template-based editor for every kind of video: explainers, ads, birthday videos and cartoons. Its free plan has a watermark; its own FAQ says the Basic plan is $15 a month and removes it. From India on 23 October 2026, its page showed:

Plan Billed yearly Billed monthly Longest video Notes
Basic ₹14,999 a year (₹1,250 a month) ₹2,199 5 minutes HD, 5 premium downloads a month
Starter ₹24,999 a year ₹3,699 15 minutes Full HD, 90 seconds of AI video
Pro ₹42,999 a year ₹6,499 30 minutes 2K, lists commercial rights

Note that “commercial rights” appear on the Pro plan’s list. If you plan to earn from YouTube on a lower plan, read Animaker’s terms first.

Steve AI: the fastest from text to video

Steve AI turns a script or a blog post into a video automatically, using its library of animated characters, stock footage and AI voices, and you edit the result. From India, its plans were Starter ₹19,999 a year (100 minutes of AI video a month, 1080p, no watermark), Pro ₹40,999 a year (300 minutes, 2K) and Generative AI ₹82,999 a year. It’s quick for explainers and listicles. For a story where the same two characters speak to each other across thirty shots, check a sample first: automatic tools are better at illustrating a voiceover than at acting out a scene.

Which Vyond alternative is best for YouTube story videos?

It depends on what’s on screen. If your video is a narrator explaining something over pictures, any tool above works, and Powtoon or Animaker are the cheapest. If your video is a story, characters who want something, talk to each other and change, you need three things the business tools weren’t built around:

  1. The same characters in every shot, from different angles.
  2. A voice for every character, with the mouth moving on whoever is speaking (why lip sync matters).
  3. Shots that change with the story, close-ups for feelings and wide shots for places, without building each one by hand.

That’s what Drawn Films is for. You write or paste a story, check the script (the lines, who says them and the cast, free to change), see a still of every shot and change any of them by typing, then press Make my video for a 1080p film. It draws every frame with its own animation engine, never AI images or AI video, gives each character their own voice with the mouth moving to each word, and writes music from the story’s feeling. A 3-minute film takes about one to two minutes once you press the button.

Vyond Starter Drawn Films Creator
Price $99 a month or $699 a year $29 a month or $278.40 a year
Free option Trial: 3 watermarked videos, no downloads First film free, up to 1 minute, with a watermark

You make it by Building every scene Writing the story
Dialogue Lip sync from audio you add Every line voiced and lip-synced
Best for Training and business explainers Story films for YouTube

Drawn Films is honest about its limits too: it’s English only for now, it makes horizontal videos (vertical Shorts are on the way), and it doesn’t post to YouTube for you. Its prices are launch prices until 22 December 2026, kept for as long as you stay; see pricing.

Can you monetise videos from these tools on YouTube?

Usually yes, if you follow each tool’s licence and YouTube’s rules. Vyond’s help centre says you can post its videos on ad-supported sites such as YouTube. Powtoon includes commercial rights on every paid plan. With Drawn Films you own every film you make and can monetise it.

YouTube has its own bar: the Partner Program requirements, and its rule against mass-produced videos. Whichever tool you choose, every video needs its own story; here’s what YouTube says about animated and AI-assisted videos. Prices and plans change often, so check each linked page before you buy.
